Updated Aug 2017 - after the new ownership took over, this campground has gone downhill. It has become too busy, and over run with people and tight campsites. It was totally redesigned and there are more people than ever packed in to the space. Everything we originally liked about the place is now obsolete. We won't be camping there again.

Original post:
You would not feel like you're only a half hour from Virginia Beach. It is a great location on the Bay with gorgeous sunset views. We booked a back in waterfront lot that backed on to a little inlet.. Each site has a table and fire pit. The lot we had also shared a dock where we could fish.
It is undergoing a huge renovation over the winter. We look forward to camping there again in the spring!

This was our first RV trip and there were some disappointments. This campground is far from anything but the national park. The roads to the park were paved and flat but very windy and slow. It would take a long time to get to Virginia Beach. The bathrooms/showers were clean, heated and private. The campsites did not look like they had been raked or swept since before fall. Big trees on both sides of our site so had to carefully position our coach to extend rear slider and couldn’t extend awning. More than half the campground were year-round renters; though most rigs were well-cared for. Regulars and staff were courteous but not particularly friendly.

We were surprised to find out that our casual conversations as we set up and wandered around the campground were being relayed (at least) to the staff. While I will be the first to admit that we do NOT whisper, that was still disconcerting.

The provided cable and wi-fi were good. The pizza was lousy. All of the outside amenities were closed (and messy). They have a nice game room including pool tables. The gym looked nice as well.

Overall, there’s no real reason to stay here unless you are visiting the area.

Traveled in a 38' Class A.
One of our "go-to" campgrounds. Getting there can be a bit nerve-wracking (168 S to Mt Pleasant Road, Blackwater Road, , Pungo Ferry Road, and Princess Anne Road), but it can be done. But once you are there, it is worth it. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Facilities. It has a private beach, a pool, mini-golf course, game room, bounce house which are all great. The facilities are very clean. The staff is friendly with a pretty good camp store. It also has a pizza place and ice cream on site.
Roads. The internal roads are dirt, gravel, or sand. The Canal back-ins can be a long back in with a big rig, but easy to navigate. The interior roads near the bath house are a little tight. 624 is our favorite site because it is an easy back in if you have a big rig.

Activities. There is always something going on each weekend. When it is a themed weekend, there is usually a band or a D.J.

The only negative is that a lot of the activities throughout the day cost extra money (i.e. bounce house, arts and crafts, etc.) and can add up pretty quickly.

Arrival was a breeze. The welcoming and friendly staff at the resort center had us checked in and with all the necessary information in no time at all. Before we knew it, we were at our site and ready to get settled in. The site itself was clean and had a beautiful view of the water not far away. We made great use of the resort by going for walks and spending a lot of time at the beach with our boys looking for interesting rocks and chunks of clay (yup - learned about the chunks of clay and it was very interesting!). We were surrounded by friendly guests in RVs and cabins. The noise levels were perfect. You could barely hear people at all despite being right next to the beach, and at night it was very peaceful. We visited the arts and crafts building a few times and the kids had a great time there - June was great with them! We also grabbed pizza and ice cream from the shop next to the resort center. According to my eldest boy, the pizza "was the finest pizza" he has had. What else can I say about that?!

We would absolutely visit again - this was our first time in an RV and visiting an RV resort. North Landing set the bar very high for future sites we visit!
