“Creating family memories that last a lifetime!”
Ocean Lakes features 893 campsites and 2,554 annual lease sites on 310 oceanfront acres with nearly one mile of beachfront, four bathhouses, and more than 360 employees in the height of the camping season. It is the largest campground on the east coast and one of the largest in the United States. On an average seasonal day Ocean Lakes has 25,000 - 35,000 guests enjoying the countless amenities that have made it a local favorite and a national vacation destination. “We could do a lot of things with 310 oceanfront acres in Myrtle Beach, and we’ve had many lucrative offers, but we believe that everyone - the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker - should have the privilege of enjoying God’s beautiful ocean,” explains Nelson Jackson, during an interview when he was 88.

We stayed on a weekend in mid October and the place was packed. We are not used to having so many people riding around on golf carts. They were everywhere. I didn't feel safe walking around the campground because of all the golf cart traffic, especially at night. We even had some people drive their carts through our camp site. Again, it's a nice campground. We just like places that are less busy.

Fancy RV resorts aren't really our style, but Ocean Lakes is pretty impressive anyway. It's one of the largest campgrounds in the country, so be prepared for row after row after row of RVs. Most of the campground (the part farther from the beach) is actually leased/rented houses, park models, and permanent mobile homes. RV sites are very wide but short - we have to park our towed car next to our motorhome, not behind it. We could see the ocean from our concrete site, and walked along the beach daily with our dogs---dogs are allowed on the beach during off-peak season, and we stayed in September 2014. Since the park is so huge, you can walk for a couple hours just inside the park, and it's great for casual bicycling too. There were quite a few golf carts roaming around but they weren't a bother. There are many resort-style amenities like swimming pools, mini-golf, sports, on-site fast food, laundry, camping store, trash pickup, etc. Just outside the campground are Camping World, Walmart, and other big box stores. The free Wi-Fi worked surprisingly well considering the many hundreds of RVs camped there.

This is a very nice, clean, and big commercial campground with direct access to the beach. We stayed two weeks in early May, the place gets busy on the weekends. This is a Huge Park, onsite camp store, Large pool, and water park. It is for the most part Dog friendly, and there is a dog park "Barc Parc" a few miles north of this location. Verizon signal was strong. We were told the water had high levels of fluoride, so we took advantage of the free filtered water filling stations located throughout the park. We camped here in a 40 ft MH.

The sites are large for such a large living community. Houses as well as rv spaces. Nice people, service oriented. Propane truck even comes to your space.
For me, there is too many people. Lots of space to bike.

This is a huge campground with lots of rental properties on site as well. There is a laundromat, water park, mini golf, indoor pool, arcade and of course the beach. We were there in March and the water park wasn't open yet. I imagine this place is super crowded in the summer. The employees were nice, and it's a good location for visiting Myrtle Beach. Verizon and AT&T work great. I like how they let you choose a site online while booking your reservation. It was nice to be able to see site dimensions and get a good idea of which site would work for us. We have a 41 ft. 5th wheel and fit fine in site H7. We had to park the truck on the grass in the site, but most others did that as well so it wasn't a problem. Our kids loved the arcade and I'm sure would have loved the water park if we had been there while it was open.

This is a beachfront warehouse. Sites are on top each other. They are all pull thrus but access roads are insanely narrow! Measured in an out roads ... see photos

We spent spring break here. Our spot did not have a cement pad and I wish it did. The sites are all very close together. There is a lot of activities at the park and close by. We loved renting a golf cart.
We did have a hard time finding our spot because the camp ground in so big and every one is packed in tight. This was common from what we could gather from other campers.

Great location and speedy check in. Our assigned site was so tight that we could never have gotten in. Thankfully our neighbor switched with us. Packed tight, lots of noise, golf carts whizzing by with stereos blasting. If you want a party and close neighbors this is your scene. It was not our scene.

Paid $49 each night for 3 nights. Stayed in site 2096 which is in the far corner near the beach. Full hookups (50amp, water, sewer) Surprisingly check-in was quick and easy for being such a big place. This campground is enormous. Probably the biggest we've ever stayed at.
It was a bit tricky finding our site but once we did we parked fairly easily. The access roads are narrow but we were still able to park our 5th wheel without too much trouble. The concrete pad was level.
The sewer connection is raised up pretty high off the ground. Walking around the campground it seems like most sites have a tall connector. Ours ended up being about a foot in the air which required a bit of work to get our hose to drain down (you know... gravity is important) and we still ended up "walking the dog" to empty the hose.
Our neighbors decided to party past midnight a couple nights with loud music and laughing. And since the sites are so close together that meant they were literally just a couple feet away from us.
The pools were closed in early March but we still had fun in the game room, got to hold a small alligator and played at the playground. The beach was just 100 yards from our site so we spent a good amount of time on the beach. Very clean, nice sand. Great for sand castles.
Cell service (both Verizon and AT&T) were crazy fast.

The area we stayed in left us just a few feet from the beach. It is a crowed park but the spaces offer enough space that you don’t feel you are on top of each other. The spots closer to the beach are pretty much in the open. I think next time I would like to try the other spots nestled in the wooded area. After being on the beach the shady spots must be nice.
