“Tipi b&b, river tubing, camping and more”
The Allen Ranch Campground is a family owned business. Our operation is laid back, peaceful, with plenty of room for hiking, river tubing, and wildlife viewing. A perfect setup for reunions, cowboy suppers, and events. The Allen Ranch is located in southwest South Dakota within the Black Hills. We offer the visitor a complete outdoor adventure into the old west that includes our Sioux Indian Tipi village. The village is located along a gentle flowing river known as the "Minnekahta", the river of warm water. Our tipi's are available for an evening or an extended stay. We welcome families, or group vacationers. We also accommodate large group tours and customize a vacation package for any length of stay. A primitive camping area for tents is also available. The natural beauty of the area can be enjoyed from the river valley, or you may hike, bike or ride horses to the top of the Seven Sisters mountain range to view the distant badlands and Black Hills. We also have a playgournd and wading and tubing for kids in our warm water river, (we supply the tubes).Through demonstrations and tours, we offer a journey back into the nineteenth century to witness the rich and colorful culture of the Lakota Sioux.

We did the Tipi B&B for two nights. The owner is really great and has an awesome dog that hangs around. The breakfast is really yummy too, but just not what I expected. If you do the B&B bring your own pillows, towels and sheets. He does provide cots, sleeping bags, and chairs. It does have a really nice location next to the Natonal parks.
We stayed there and really enjoyed it. The owner is really nice and has lived there all of his life. The tent camping is right on the river and we spent a very restful night sleeping to it.
Can you say sheep/horse poop...I've never seen so much of it in my life. This is a whole in the wall campground, very old and needs tons of work. The bathrooms were old but clean enough considering the campground. The price was crazy high if I was not so tired we would not of stayed, we paid $18.00 with passport America. Sign said $25.00 night for Bikes...CRAZY!! ATT cell worked ok, could not get DirTV or local channels. Road is very rough going in, I would not stay again.
What a magical place! We camped right by the creek and saw a gorgeous country wedding from across the camp. In the morning, sheep were grazing right by our campsite, which was a pretty cool sight for us Californians :)
We tent stayed here for 2 nights. Right on the stream hot spring fed! It cuts out the noise of traffic for the most part. Bathrooms are neat and clean, 2 showers- with hott water. Easy access to mammoth site, crazy horse and mt Rushmore is all close.

Older park. Two sets of sites. One set, along the creek, are pretty short. There are another 4 sites located up o the hill which can accommodate large rigs. Sites are E/W. Fastest Verizon I have ever seen. 61.38/9.37 Down/Up with no booster.

This place is so pretty! The creek that runs through the property is amazing. It’s great to stand or even swim in. There is ONE teepee up when I ventured back with amazing constrast to the red rocks and cliff. We have a 43” fifth wheel and was able to fit comfortably in site 8 next to the creek.
The other big rig spots on the hill have great views but, like another review mentioned they didn’t have picnic tables or fire pits. If you do have a bigger rig the layout needs to be broader to accommodate turn arounds better and the space definitely needs gravel brought in on the sites and surrounding areas.
The details that someone done with this place took time and care but, it feels like it doesn’t get the care it needs anymore. (Structures and grass) there are fresh flowers and the office area looks great.
The grass is long up to the ankle in common areas and knee high on the outskirts.
Tents and smaller rigs shouldn’t have any trouble enjoying the surrounding beauty and the proximity to town. Lots of birds to look at and small fish in the stream.
They have water and electric and a dump station.
The owner is great and very nice.

Paid 20.00/night via Passport America. Regular rate is 40.00/night. Mr. Allen was super accommodating. Went out of his way to meet me at the Driver's license office to bring me a receipt to satisfy the SD one night stay requirements. Camp site was clean. No sewer connection but there is a dump station conveniently located. Had water and 30/50 amp service. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting the black hills.

The place is a bit run down but very easy to work with. There is a dump, no sewage hookups though. Had 50 amp, site right on the creek with Mountain View’s accross. Can’t complain!!!
