I made a last minute reservation here on Halloween weekend. Must be one of the few campgrounds that doesn't have trick or treat! It was a rainy night, but my site was fairly level and I was pleasantly surprised by the campground the next morning. Lake, movie screen, plenty of sites. Cell service was good for both AT&T and Verizon. I was getting over 20MB down on AT&T when I was watching the Bukeyes game.

I stayed here 3 nights and worked each day from my truck camper. I drove the campground and found this site to have the best signal for both AT&T and Verizon. Facilities were a little dated and the dump station was closed (not sure why) but it was mid October.
If you book online beware of the season. I booked a site and bought a tram ticket only to find that the tram wasn't running that day (they let me use it the next day but wasn't really in my plans)

Stayed here while I fished and visited the sites. Newly paved roads in the area, finished while I was here. Saw an owl fly across the road on the way in! Beware of copperheads. Saw one dead and one of those also crossed the road in front of me not far from the campground.
Water spirits are a bit odd. Otherwise the site was roomy, fairly level, and nice.
Cell service was good enough for me to work on AT&T. Also streamed a movie at night on Verizon.

Nice trails, lake, and camp spots were recently paved.
Fair warning, if you go there at night, the campground is immediately on your right NOT inside the park gates. The campground sign is woefully small and not lit at night so as I pulled off the road trying to locate signs and seeing gate half closed I missed the campground sign. Assumed it was in the park somewhere and was one of those places that close the gate at night on campers (which is crazy to me). Instead I drove into the park, using the GPS coordinates on this Campendium Entry which took me to the golf course parking lot where I had to unhook my jeep to be able to turn around. So I just drove around until I found my error.
The noise subsides at night but it's legit 4 lane highway noise ALL DAY LONG. I was sight seeing and gone most of the time, but I wouldn't pick this place as a family vacation to hang out at the campground. But I wouldn't take away rating for it, just depends on what you're camping for. It was fine for me.

The park I had planned to stay in had closed for the season (even after I spoke with them 2 weeks earlier about the date I was coming) so this was my second option. It was very cold for 2 nights here, low 20s, but water was on to fill my tanks, electric worked fine, and only a couple other campers in and out at this time a year.
Great place to base out of to visit Route 66 and the area. Baxter Springs is a great little town and a great local museum. Top notch for such a small town.
Site 22 was right under one of the light poles so was nice with so few other campers while I was there.
Also right on a beautiful river with a low head dam in view.
