Great tour guide. Fascinating ship. Absolutely amazing that it is still a functioning vessel.
Very interesting. Has a good movie that you should see before taking a tour around the battlefield. There are both walking paths and a road around the park. There is also the Scruggs cabin which was constructed in the early 1800s and is accessed from either the walking path or road. There was a volunteer at the cabin on the day we visited so we were able to look inside the 1-room cabin and marvel how a family with 11 children could have fit in such a small place.
This statue is being moved to Flour stadium but when we went thru there were improvements being developed at the entrance of the stadium
Great museum! Emulates the trees and forest the Patriots moved through to win the battle. Might be a little scary for younger kids because the museum is dark with the displays set along a winding path. The theatre has an excellent movie explaining the events leading up to the battle and how the troops were arranged. There is also a walking trail around the battlefield that we didn’t have time to explore.
2 forts, the Star Fort and the Stockade Fort. 1 1/2 mile walking trail with interesting and well placed markers.
Small museum filled with interesting information on how Richmond CA became a WWII shipbuilding center. 747 ships launched in Richmond, more than any other shipyard in the country. Exhibits explained how women and African-Americans were recruited, discussed the housing shortage and the introduction on child care and health care by Henry Kaiser to support his workers. Besides the exhibits, short films are shown on the history of Richmond and the shipyards. The museum is situated at the end of a pier with a beautiful view of San Francisco Bay.
