We come here a lot, usually with friends in the summer, or on our own in the fall/winter in our trailer. We always bring bikes because there are lots of great bike trails, and you can easily bike to Rogue or to the Aquarium from the campground, not to mention the beach.

The beach experience is finicky; it can be cold, rainy and windy even in the late summer. So always be prepared with a rain jacket, vest, wool socks. The campground is busy and giant, but it can be fun with friends. Also - the off-season is really nice, because it’s less crowded and those sun breaks are great.

If you’re suffering from 60-degree weather in the middle of summer, check out nearby Lake Ollalla in Toledo. Great for paddling and swimming, it’s usually 10-15 degrees warmer and not as windy.

This is our third time to camp at this park. Usually we stay for an overnight, as it's on our way along I-84 between our destination points. Previously, we've stayed in cabins - and those are quite nice and reasonably priced. Lots of room for kids to run around and play on the lawn, plus grills for outdoor cooking.

This time, we had our camper trailer and we stayed in the upper portion, with nice views of the hilltop and towards the water. The trail toward the disc golf area is pleasant, and so is the walk to the education center. We always love visiting the center - it's free, air-conditioned, and we always learn something. Bathrooms are clean in the park and definitely at the center. The campsites aren't too close together, and the grounds are nice and full of trees, so we had lots of shade. Will definitely keep staying here.

Nehalem is a great state park with nice beach access. There are lots of people in sites that are packed in, so don’t expect privacy. Would be great for groups. The coastal winds can be brutal so bring something else to do while not at the beach. Outdoor or indoor games, etc. Clean facilities.

Campsites are nicely spaced and close enough to walk to the lake. We were here when it was plenty warm so we jumped in the lake. Only complaint is the bathrooms were a bit far from our site. Pretty and shady.
