Longwood Park is the largest park in Salem. The park has 5 shelters - 2 can be reserved - and an amphitheater for evening concerts and movies.

Eureka Park boasts beautiful rolling hills and large trees. With a recently renovated playground, Eureka is also home to the city’s busiest recreation center, Eureka Park Recreation Center. The park also has a basketball court, baseball diamond and plenty of scenic fields and foliage.

Countryside Park, formerly a golf course, boasts state-of-the-art playground equipment and paved trails. The playground features inclusive play equipment, such as a wheelchair accessible ship swing. Park guests can enjoy larger-than-life wind chimes and other musical features while enjoying lunch at the picnic shelter. One of the most popular features at Countryside Park is the Neos electronic gaming system that keeps children moving as they chase a colored light pattern.

A quiet park along the river (unless there is a special event). Well maintained. Nice fenced playground and bathroom facilities. Good place for a picnic as well- covered area too.

Purcell Park is a 67 acre park located on Monument Avenue on the east side and on South Main Street on the south side of the park. There are two entrances to the park - one from Monument Avenue and the other from Miller Circle off of South Main Street. The park has three softball/baseball fields, four tennis courts, a playground, three picnic shelters, several restrooms, and a 1.5 mile walking trail. A large portion of the Bluestone Trail also runs through the park.

True to its name, Panorama Memorial Gardens in Strasburg, Virginia offers breathtaking panoramic views of the mountain of both Warren and Shenandoah Counties. The pond in the middle of the park is home to many fish and serves as a migrating site for geese. Deer frequent the park as well, drinking from the two ponds located on the grounds.

Main Street of Yesteryear is at 261 Caverns Rd. at Shenandoah Caverns. Antique, animated window displays that appeared in famous department stores include Cinderella at the ball, a 100-figure circus parade, toy soldiers and a miniature presidential inaugural parade.

Food is available June-Aug.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available
