I was really looking forward to spending the holidays here but should have know from all the difficulty accessing and using the website it was not going to be a 5 star stay. Don’t get me wrong, the views are beautiful! The website to reserve is a horror story. So user unfriendly, I ended up making reservations for the wrong month and didn’t realize until I got the emailed confirmation. I tried to contact someone immediately but this was on a weekend and there is NO ONE available on weekends or after hours. Also, for a large part of the year, there’s NO ONE to help you figure out the monstrous website. Anyway, finally got a hold of someone the following Monday who changed my reservation. The only thing left was A Loop which has 50amp (which I didn’t need) but these sites are more expensive. I assumed they were designed for larger class A RV’s but these are SMALL sites. I have a 3500 dually and truck camper and I took up the entire site. Anyway, FYI: NO SHOWERS! For this price you should be getting a hot tub. I was told on entering there was a “nice sink to wash your hair by the bathroom.” Also FYI: dogs are NOT ALLOWED anywhere on the trails in the Tucson Mountain Park, which this campground is a part of and consists of hundreds of miles of trails. Also FYI: You need to be out of you site by ELEVEN AM! This is worse than some hotels. The bathrooms were old and dated but mostly clean. Found garbage in my site when I came. There is certainly no grooming of sites or gravel here. I was able to get level after back and forth if my truck to fit it in in such a way as to be level side to side, but my nose was still higher than my rear, but doable. It’s a lovely location, but I won’t be back and neither will my dog.

Only one loop is first come first serve, G loop, all of which are electric hookups, which I don’t need. $40 for out of state which is ridiculous. Then, if you pay for more than one night in this loop, there is no way to indicate if the site is taken when you’re gone. Asked a ranger about this and she told me just leave my jug of distilled water on the picnic table. I did that. Came back 2 hours later to find someone had taken my gallon of water. Of course, no one saw anything. $40 a night and you have to deal with petty thievery. Then, on my way out, used the dump satiation which had no lid, crap all over, and the hose to rinse everything was broken and instead of water coming out the end of the hose, it jets up from the base like a fountain and gets you soaked with non-potable water. Thanks so much! Complete rip off. NO ONE around anywhere, in any office or booth. I was only able to speak with a ranger once because I forgot to put my zip code on my pay envelope and she came looking for that. Money is all that these state parks seem to care about these days. Oh, and NO GARBAGE receptacles any where except the main compactor. I pick up my dogs poop, but not if there’s no where to put it. No garbage even in the bathrooms. Beautiful area that is now just a place for rich people and thieves, apparently.
