The trip is 2.5 miles out and back with 636 feet of elevation gain. We did see small children and seniors on the trail, but it may be challenging for some, there is quite a bit of ascending and descending bits. Overall it is a lovely trail. It was really warm when we went so we played in the river before leaving. The lower falls can be viewed by a set of stairs that lead to a look out point and the upper falls are viewed by a bridge crossed the river.

We camped at this first-come first-served campground. $10 per night at the time of this review. It is right near the road so there is the occasional late night road noise, but overall it is was quiet. The sites are nicely spaced and there are flush toilets. A heard a cattle moved through the perimeter of the campground while we were there, which was a nice surprise for the kids.

Roadtrippers has the location incorrect on the map, it is just off the highway. Huge gas stun with fast food and more candy than any candy store I’ve ever been in.

We visited to supplement to my child’s fourth grade CA history lessons. The visitor center and exhibits were closed due to Covid when we went, but we were able to walk around and read the informational signs. Very interesting and educational experience. It is very hot in summer, bring a hat and water.

This was a great stop on our road trip. We visited South Tufa Trail which is where the tufa towers are located. There is a short trail marked from the parking lot to the shoreline. We spent a leisurely hour wandering through towers and along the shoreline. There are many gnat-like bugs along the water in this area and the shoreline is rocky/rough so we didn’t venture in. However there were people kayaking. There are pit toilets in the parking lot, so be sure to bring your hand sanitizer.

Had a great experience tent camping at Broken Arrow. The bathrooms and showers were clean. We were in the area visiting Crater Lake National Park and I much prefer this campground to the grounds inside the park. It is less crowded and the sites are not too close together. We used a Thermacell mosquito repellent and some citronella wristbands didn’t have any problems. The ground squirrels did get into a cardboard box of cooking gear and shredded up a roll of paper towels.

Such a beautiful place! The lake has many lookout points along the rim and one trail that leads down to the water. We went summer 2020 so the boat tours were not running due to social distancing guidelines. We stayed for 3 days and camped at nearby Diamond Lake (which I preferred to the campgrounds inside the park). The park trails are wide and well maintained. Our favorite trail was Annie Creek. We went in late July and the wildflowers were in bloom everywhere.
