This lighthouse, South Pier Light, is accessible from South Beach. Depending on the time of year you may have to pay for parking. Also in the summer the beach area is very crowded with families, college students and everyone in between as it is a very popular summer spot. There are restrooms, concessions, a playground area, skateboard park and of course the beach!
In order to visit you need to make a reservation ahead of time so check their website or give them a call!
Everyone in Michigan calls it "the bridge". If you have someone afraid of heights make sure you pull off and switch drivers. Also the middle lanes are grated and creates an unsettling noise when driving over. The toll is paid on the north side of the bridge at its $4 a car. There is no stopping or pulling over or walking allowed on the bridge (unless it's the Labor Day walk).
Parking is in the back. Theres a nice paved parking lot or a couple gravel lots that you can park in. The place fills up quickly on the evenings, particularly weekends. The beers on tap never seem to be the same. They have a delicious Amber. Heads up their beers have a higher percentage then normal beers. There menu is amazing. They have really tasty wings and make these bacon wrapped dates appetizers that are out of this world.
Food Dance is by far my favorite restaurant. Not only are you eating locally but the chefs here create amazing dishes from the appetizers to entrees to deserts to drinks. The menu changes seasonally so you always have the option to try something new. Their Mac n Cheese is so deliciously rich and yummy it is a must have. They always come up with unique bruschetta and other appetizers. My favorite dish so far has been an Alaskan salmon salad, but do love their burgers and lamb dishes as well. Heads up though as it is easy to ring up a big bill here(food isn't necessarily cheap), but let me tell you it is worth it! They have a parking lot across the street and one in the back with an entrance through their little deli.
It is a large place. Either park on the street or park in the parking structure across the street and walk in through the hotel (they should validate parking). Decent food and service.
This state park is beautiful. They have tent, RV and cabin spots, a small beach and the lake is calm enough to take a canoe out for an easy paddle. There are some short and easy hikes in the park as well. We stayed at the cabin. The cabin is relatively new, clean, spacious and even has a mini fridge so you can sip a nice cold one while you watch the sun set over the lake.
It looks like it has been fixed!
I believe its been back for a while now.
