Cool place. We took our dog Matilda and enjoyed searching. We didn't find anything but didn't have too long to stay. It costs $10/ person and you can rent tools (for a heft price) or bring your own....

Very pretty place. We canoed the river and camped for one night. I also ran the Choctaw National Trail near the campsite. To see pictures/the story of our trip check out The Flatlander's Revolt YouTube Chanel. E3. https://youtu.be/8VhUYTT6KRQ
Beautiful area - Check out the "Talimena Scenic Byway" - Pretty place to drive. I did a 5m run/hike along one of the trails about 3 miles up the road. We enjoyed a nice 8.5 mile hike/run Pigeon Roost Trail, then we stopped at the visitors center - it was fun, lots of good information displayed in a fun way to learn. We're on a 11,000 mile road trip, this was a early stop for us. This place is under new ownership. It's a little rough now, but I think the new owners will do good things to it! We enjoyed our (2) night stay here. Here is a link to our YouTube Chanel (Flatlander's Revolt) showing this section of our 11,000 mile trip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqMMD1zIsJ4
We stayed here for (2) nights in our camper trailer. It was a nice place to stay, cost around $22/night. We stayed late March. The trail around the lake is nice if you want to see the sun rise.
