We’ve been operating for over 50 years and are committed to selling and delivering the best experiences in Queenstown and Fiordland. As the oldest and most well established company in Milford Sound, we have a full range of vessels and cruises to suit every budget, timeframe and interest offering the widest range of trips in the fiord. We also operate Scenic Cruises, Cruise & Kayak Milford Sound and the Discover More which incorporates a visit to the Milford Sound Underwater Observatory. The Milford Sound Underwater Observatory is New Zealand’s only floating underwater observatory and offers a spectacular insight into this unique marine reserve. We have a range of transport options including coaches and scenic flights, as well as a shareholding in Milford Sound Lodge.

Southern Discoveries recognises the importance of preserving the natural environment, and is hugely committed to the protection of the fiord flora, fauna and wildlife through the Sinbad Sanctuary Project, in partnership with the Department of Conservation and Fiordland Conservation Trust.

In Queenstown, we offer scenic cruises on Lake Wakatipu and private charters on Queenstown Discovery. Spirit of Queenstown offers a premium cruising experience to Mt Nicholas High Country Farm, a merino sheep farm on the western shores of Lake Wakatipu with a range of authentic farm and cycling excursions. Spirit of Queenstown is also available for private hire and charters. We also have a 50% shareholding in Queenstown’s KJet, the original Jet boat company. We like to share sights, knowledge and stories with our visitors that only a local could know.
