“on the hill overlooking the historic village of Russell”
Bellrock Lodge is on the hill overlooking the historic village of Russell in the stunning Bay of Islands, New Zealand. From this wonderful vantage point you will see all the comings and goings of the passenger ferries, pleasure boats and village life. It is a five minute stroll from Bellrock Lodge to the waterfront with its restaurants, cafes, pubs and wharf. If you are booked on any of the sightseeing, fishing or sailing boat trips, this is where you will be picked up. Your hosts, Peter and Lorraine are South Africans who came on holiday to New Zealand in 2005 and fell in love, not only with New Zealand, but specifically with Russell. It is difficult to explain just what it is about Russell that endears one to the village. It could start with the ferry trip from the mainland or the quaint village itself with cafes, restaurants and shops on the waterfront, the historic buildings with their interesting past, the friendly locals or the spectacular views, of which Bellrock Lodge has one of the best.
