“Not just a garden but an Art Gallery”

Not just a garden but an Art Gallery of leaf textures, forms and colours which allows you to appreciate the diversity of nature. Enjoy the serenity of the garden made more beautiful by bird song. Free to visit or take a charged conducted tours. The entrance to the property is marked by two Draceana draco (Dragon Trees} and two stone pillars sculpted by my world renowned brother, Chris Booth. While visiting the Bay of Islands come and have a relaxing visit to Wharepuke Subtropical Garden. Wharepuke, meaning “house on the hill” is a sub-tropical and dry climate garden featuring various unusual and exotic plants from around the world. Quite a few species are represented by only one plant and in one case maybe the only plant in New Zealand. A dry climate sunken garden is starting to look attractive. Within walking distance are the Stone Store and the Mission House, respectively New Zealand’s oldest stone and wooden buildings.
