Ballooning Canterbury

Hot air ballooning's not new, but it's certainly got safer since it was first invented in 1783 in Paris (of course the French came up with this charming way to fly). Ballooning has held its old world magic and operates in the flatter parts of New Zealand, North Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Waikato, Wairarapa, and Canterbury.

Ballooning Canterbury offers panoramic views across the colourful Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps and operate year round - the only thing limiting a winter flight is the guests' ability to weather the temperatures up there - it's definitely a hats and gloves affair.

Ballooning Canterbury is a family owned and operated business and they operate two balloons: a Cameron-90 for special occasions or a small number of passengers and a Cameron Z-275, which can carry up to 16 passengers and is outfitted with the latest equipment and technology.
