“Bringing the best of the Mediterranean to the heart of Christchurch”
Since opening its doors in 2001, The Mediterranean Food Co has grown in to a beloved Christchurch institution. A bastion of warmth, hospitality and, of course fine food, miraculously removed from its semi-industrial inner city location. The founder of the company, Gerald Crotty started with the vision to bring a piece of his Italian heritage to the heart of Christchurch and bring to them quality ingredients from the Mediterranean. With the vision of becoming the premium supplier of Mediterranean products in the South Island, new owners Paul Johnston and Andrew Brady continue to work with Gerald in nurturing the long and valued relationships with suppliers back in Italy while also exploring new product ranges to enhance New Zealand’s unique food and lifestyle culture. Mediterranean Food Co Rangiora café is attracting rave reviews for its great service and friendly, intimate atmosphere. Mediterranean Food Co Rangiora café is attracting rave reviews for its great service and friendly, intimate atmosphere. Inspired by our own products and our favourite eateries in Rome, Florence, Bologna and Venice, our Tuam Street and Rangiora cafés show case our quality ingredients with a menu that includes Antipasti, Pasta and the most authentic Italian pizza in Canterbury. Soon there will be the addition of a new Deli right in Christchurch’s re-emerging retail heart. Together with their food loving team, Paul and Andrew can’t wait to bring the best of the Mediterranean to your table!
