“Murray Ball's Footrot Flats cartoon characters Wal and Dog.”
This statue was commissioned to commemorate the cartoon strips by Murray Ball. The statue is of the farmer Wal and his loyal dog, aptly named 'Dog'. Weta workshop cast the 1.8 metre statue of Wal and Dog. Gisborne is the home of Murray Ball and served as inspiration for the cartoon series.
