“Home to a stunning underwater river”
Mexico might have some of the world's most beautiful rivers, like the stunning Tampaon River or the underground Rio Secreto, but there's one river that you have to look a little harder to find... but it's totally worth it. The Cenote Angelita, or the Little Angel, located on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, is an underwater river, complete with rocky shores, trees, and even it's own flowing stream. The only way to see it is to scuba dive down to the bottom of the river. Sound weird? It is. The strange natural formation is made possible from the hydrogen sulfate that mixes with the Little Angel's saltwater. Since the mixture is actually much heavier than regular salt water, it sinks to the bottom of the cenote, causing an "underground river" effect, one that looks particularly stunning against the cenote's natural formations.
Ridiculously cheap pricing for the diving packages here, and the experience is worth way more if you ask me. For $320 bucks, the SeaMonkey special gives you eight different dives, two dives per day over five days. 2 days with 4 dives from Playa del Carmen, 1 days with 2 dives in the cenote caverns, 1 day with 2 dives from Cozumel.
