Nevado de Toluca is a great day trip from Mexico City if you're in the mood to get your heart pumping. The altitude makes what would otherwise be a leisurely walk into a pretty solid hike. It's really beautiful up there, be sure to bring some extra layers though as it can definitely get hilly. Don't forget to stop for quesadillas on your way up, you won't want to miss them!
