Beautiful remote and wild campground without facilities although there are trash cans and trash is being picked up. We were there in February 2021 and loved it. But be careful it is a nature reserve so pick up your trash and respect the animals.
Beautiful sunrise every morning, we saw humpback whales and a grey whale from our trailer. Pelicans and tons of fish. You can just Kayak out from the (pebble) beach and enjoy.
We spend a lot of time at Pepe's restaurant, which is at walking distance, we got talking with him and he was absolutely wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the area as he once was the director of the park I believe.
He also arranged a dive trip and snorkel trip for us, a tour at an ecological farm, complete with lunch and brought us to a goat farm where we bought cheese, yogurt and kombucha. On top of that he showed us where the hot springs are at the Santa Rita Ranch. Not sure what we would have done without him. We had a blast!
Meanwhile the area is there to explore as well, for example when the weather is calm you can climb onto the rocks at the far left side of the beach and look into the water and it is like looking into an aquarium. If you walk towards the right of the beach near the little village there are reefs and you can just snorkel straight from the beach. just remember to be careful and respectful because it is a Unesco world heritage site.
This place was absolutely the highlight of our trip!

Easy access to the town of Cabo Pulmo (1/4 mile walk) and easy beach access to play in the waves or go snorkeling/scuba diving. Can't complain about camping for free in a National Preserve.

Cabo Pulmo is a national park and preserve for its reef. Its not a very big town, but its pretty cool and has some really great food. This spot is right when you come down the dirt road into town if you are coming from Los Barilles. It used to be an old established campground, but for now you can camp here for free. Its a nice rocky beach right on the beautiful water. Theres a big beautiful cell tower right behind you sitting up on top of the mountain too so Telcel is great here. I only wish we stayed here for a few more days. The dive trips and snorkeling is supposed to be incredible and I could have ate in town several more times.
