“The only hotel in the world where you can eat breakfast with giraffe”

You've never been to a hotel like this before. Giraffe Manor is an elegant manor home operating as a boutique 10-room, bed and breakfast that shares its 140-acre estate with eight adorably friendly giraffes. In the morning the giraffes help themselves to breakfast alongside the hotel guests.  The manor was opened in 1984 (though the home dates back to the 1930s) and is located on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. Previously it was run by Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville, "whose lifelong ambition became the preservation of this beautiful and threatened species of giraffe." The giraffes are known as Rothschild giraffes, which is an incredibly-rare giraffe. Unfortunately, there's only around 600 left in existence. Today it's run by the Carr-Hartley family. The Rothschild's giraffe has already become extinct in Sudan and numbers are dangerously low in Kenya and Uganda.  If we are to prevent this giraffe from going extinct then we urgently need effective conservation strategies.  To do this, we need research and conservation planning. - Giraffe Research At $500 per person/per night it's not a cheap visit, but your booking supports a good cause. Giraffe Manor serves as a habitat for the endangered giraffes. As a sanctuary and breeding ground, it seeks to ensure that the Rothschild giraffes continue to reproduce and populate. - Roadtrippers Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi’s most iconic historical buildings dating back to the 1930s and is reminiscent of the early days of Europeans in East Africa. Whilst the building itself resonates with the past, very much present is the herd of resident Rothschild giraffe who tend to visit the Manor in the mornings and evenings to greet guests and sniff out some snacks before venturing out into their sanctuary of 140 acres. From 1974, Giraffe Manor was the home of Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville, whose lifelong ambition became the preservation of this beautiful and threatened species of giraffe. - Giraffe Manor
