“sure to experience truly sweet memories”
Shiroi Koibito Park is a fantastic space based on the ideals of deliciousness, fun and stories of sweets from a bygone era. In addition to housing the Shiroi Koibito Factory where this well-known Hokkaido confectionery is produced, the park also has a cafe to allow visitors to savor Ishiya’s original sweets, the Cookiecraft Studio (where budding confectioners can try their hand at making their own Shiroi Koibito cookies), a toy exhibition room and the Rose Garden. The things visitors see, taste and experience here will make for truly “sweet” memories!
A great place to visit if you want to see a different side of Sapporo with Western Architecture. Flower enthusiast should definitely go during Spring season, as they are blooming all around the place - when I say all around, I mean literally all-around anywhere everywhere. They have hourly show of musical toys that lasts for 15 minutes.
For a minimal fee, you can join a tour to watch and see how their famous sweets are made. You can also make your own cookies. Inside the cafe, there's a live candy making show with explanation in Japanese - no need for translation to understand 'coz its fun to watch! The only downside when visiting here are the group tours that come by bus loads!!
I thought we were just visiting a typical factory but when we arrived there we saw some pretty interesting buildings around a beautiful garden. It was definitely different than the usual building you see around Japan. The hourly musical show is impressive too.
Definitely a great stop when you're in Hokkaido!
