“The political and penal history of Ireland”
One of the largest unoccupied gaols in Europe, covering some of the most heroic and tragic events in Ireland's emergence as a modern nation from 1780s to the 1920s. Attractions include a major exhibition detailing the political and penal history of the prison and its restoration. The tour of the prison includes an audio-visual show. Tours may be arranged for visitors with special needs by prior arrangement.
Kilmainham Gaol is so overrun with ghosts that it makes your average haunted jail seem like a great place spend a relaxing weekend. When it's not the prisoners you have to worry about, but the rather the violent poltergeist activity, you know you've got a bad case of the spookies. If you're looking for an awesome spooky place to visit, this is THE PLACE.

My husband and I visited Kilmainham Gaol while in Dublin and we loved it! Not sure how much it is by itself to get in, but we got the Dublin Pass which allowed us entry to this historic prison. Highly recommend the Dublin Pass for anyone touring Dublin. The tour was very interesting. Lots of interesting history about the jail and the architecture was really neat to see and walk through as well.
Well I haven't seen anything ghostly during my tour, but it's still an amazing place to visit! It was used many times in movies and tv series and the energy and stories and incredible! A highlight of my trip to Ireland!
