Parliament Square

Located in the heart of British Politics, Parliament Square forms part of Westminster. The Gardens are an area of significant historic and symbolic value to the British People and many others worldwide.  In 1987 it was designated as the Westminster Abbey and Parliament Square Conservation Area and inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, listed in 1996 and is an English Heritage Grade II registered garden of Special Historic Interest. Parliament Square Gardens have played an important part in British heritage as a place of ceremonies, demonstrations and significant historic events.  This role continues today, as Parliament Square Gardens are still a key part of the ceremonial route between Westminster Abbey and Westminster Hall.
