Easily accessible road immediately north of Quill Creek leads east down a gentle slope to a spacious gravel area with ample space for multiple rigs. Entirely 2wd accessible with lots of space to turn around – suitable for any size rig. Also easily visible from the road so you can see how much space there is before you even drive in.

The creek is really a small rushing river of glacial runoff – the creek is fairly loud which helps drown out the traffic noise from the occasional vehicle passing on the Haines highway. The water is a murky and cold and the current is strong.

A narrow gravel road continues east along the creek and there are more campsites down this road for more adventurous campers with suitable rigs. Probably best to walk the road first to be sure you can get in and out and sites are available before you go driving down there. Road goes on for quite a ways – I did not find the end of it after a couple kms I turned back.

Across the road immediately south of Quill Creek is another, smaller, entirely accessible gravel landing with one particularly good camp site right next to the river. I stayed at this one for 4 nights. – see pics of tan Tacoma towing small travel trailer. Technically it is inside Kluane National Park on the west side of Haines Highway but there were no signs prohibiting camping and no one bothered me. This is a more popular spot for people to pull in for a look around so it may be a little busier during the day.

From the west side, there is also a narrow gravel road that leads farther from the highway and a couple more sites back there. Probably best to walk this one first as well – brush overhangs the road a bit and the camping areas are smaller than on the east side.

This spot is halfway between Haines Junction and Kathleen Lake Campground - park of Parks Canada. I used it as a base to drop my trailer and go exploring down the Haines highway with just my pick up truck. Kathleen lake is clear and cold but swimmable on a hot day, Dezadeash lake farther down is a shallow lake with warmer water better for swimming.

Good cell signal here from Haines Junction – signal reaches all the way to Kathleen Lake but then disappears as you continue south. I had great signal on Bell Canada, another camper had some signal in the area on AT&T.

Bears are possible in the area though I didn’t see one. Bugs were not bad at all.
