Easy flat in and no problem finding a spot along the lake on stable dirt/packed sand/rock. Easy to level right next to lake. Gorgeous views surround you. We were here end of Aug. it was very windy.

I pulled in about 530 and there were no other RVs, campers or vans here. The lake vote is beautiful. I am in a 24 foot RV pulling a jeep and I got in just fine and was able to turn around. There are no actual sites. You just pull down into the area and park. I have no cell with T-Mobile, but Starlink works great - wide-open views.

Unmarked gravel road leads a short distance down from the highway to a rocky beach on Kluane Lake. You can park as close to the water as you like. Gorgeous views with mountains all around. Water is clear but really too cold to swim in. I got in to my waist and filled my fresh water tank from the lake. Easy to walk along the shoreline – you can walk all the way to the campground and beyond heading south. Grizzly bears are possible – I didn’t see any in the 4 days I was there but apparently they are common at Congdon Campground just south. Other campers reported seeing a momma grizzly with 2 cubs across the highway.
This is a large rocky beach area that goes on for about a mile. The beach itself is not sandy but rocky so traction is good. The access road is gravel and has a small downward incline. Some sand at the bottom and some loose, fine gravel along the treeline. I suggest you park on the side of the highway and walk the road to check conditions first. Some areas may be 2wd accessible depending on your rig.
There are additional access roads about 500 m north and 200 m south of the marked location. You may find these other access routes a better choice for your rig – again park on the road and scout out the access routes to be sure your rig will be okay. The footing where I camped was quite solid I had no troubles with my 4wd Tacoma pulling a small dual axle travel trailer. Lots of truck campers came and went while I was there. However, a 4x4 F150 tried to go overlanding over some large rocks at the north end of the camping area and promptly got very stuck in deep muck. Scope it out on foot before you go in to avoid driving into soft ground, especially if it has been raining.
You can just see the highway traffic through the trees on the road above. Some highway noise is audible but the water lapping on the shore largely drowns it out.
I was able to get decent cell signal on my Bell Canada plan only using a cell booster. Signal comes from Burwash Landing to the north across the lake so for the best signal, choose a spot at the north end close to the lake on solid ground.

Beautiful spot, just be aware that it has an active bear population. We saw fresh tracks as we pulled in and new ones the next morning. They did not approach our trailer but did walk within 40 ft, would have been great to see but slept through it. If you are tenting you might sleep better at the nearby provincial park which (we read anyway) has an electric fence around the tenting area.
The views are incredible and the site is mostly shielded from the road. We stayed with 21ft trailer pulled with 4x4 pickup, would have been fine with larger but scout as it has quite variable surfaces from cobbled rock to loose glacial silt. Got hints of cell signal in booster with "Lucky" which I think is on the Telus network. Not data usable but you might get texts out, again with booster.

perfect overnight for my trek on the alcan highway. got there pretty late at night and left in the morning but was amazing camping for free on such a pristine lake with a beautiful view. easy access off the highway with some noise but not much at all. seemed pretty clean and spots for a bunch of vehicles. lots of mosquitos by the water but not even worth complainin bout that!

Cool spot to camp right next to Kluane Lake. I got here late around 1am and was the only person there. It was dark, quiet, safe, and a good location. You could see a TON of stars and the views were beautiful. I would definitely stay here again. Overall a great free place to sleep!

Loved our one night stay on the way north to Alaska, but noticed multiple bear prints along the beach and saw a grizzly wandering in the direction of our site on our way out the next morning. Know where you are and be careful, but absolutely stunning scenery.
