This campground is only 15 min South of Whitehorse and features beautiful big treed sites (some along the Wolf Creek). There is free wood provided in covered wood shelters and pit toilets. There are no water faucets in the campground. There is a 1.5 mile loop trail that brings you along the Yukon river (bike and hike). Find a spot that is further from the road if you want to be more quiet. This place is often full during the summer, so come early in the morning during the week to secure a spot.

Nice location to the east of Whitehorse, a town that has everything that most people would need to re provision. The location is in a nice wooded area, which a few recreational trails to explore, one of which over looks the Yukon river at a nice point. The trail head is on the north east side of the campground, and once your on it, just stay on the nice gravel path, you can continue on after the gravel and make it a loop trail. The trail on the east side of the campground after going up the stairs in pretty undeveloped, and unspectacular. At $12 Canadian which is about $9.13 US, its a nice stay with firewood. We have learned that this campground has a very large local vibe on the weekends, and holidays so be aware. If you want to be a little further out of town, I prefer Marsh Lake YGCG myself. We made the mistake of camping in the spots on the Northern side of the loop, which are the first large spots, and this is where most locals congregate, and most are there to party. Continue the loop around, and look for the more secluded spots. Bears are in the area, and a Grizzly Sow and two cubs were hanging out in the campground while we were there. This location is better suited for smaller 5th wheels and motorhomes, rather then the largest of motor coaches although you could probably find a spot also. Two narrow wooden bridges must be crossed inside the campground itself.

We were quite fortunate to get a site here. We came in around 10:30 in the morning when people were leaving and got one of three sites available. The campground was full every night - well the campsites were booked. It appeared that a lot of the sites were booked for 14 days but that the people staying there only came periodically. During our 5 days, one of our neighbors were only there about 4 hours in total. There were a couple of parties on the weekend at the pavilions near the front of the campground but it was very quiet were we where.
The sites really varied in dimensions. Ours would have fit a 40’ rig but they would have had difficulties backing in. Site #43 just up from ours was my favourite in the campground. It was very long and had a great overlook of the creek - a little waterfall was beside it. The campsites all had greenery between them but some were more than others. #43 was super private, in ours we had green space but would be looking right at our neighbours when we were at the fire.
There are no hookups but we easily dumped & filled both before and after at Caribou RV Park just up the Hwy.
There were a couple of trails from the campground that were very scenic.
The outhouses were clean, picnic tables were huge and there was free firewood.
If you can get a spot and are good with dry camping, this campground is much much nicer than what I could see of the two private ones near town.

Stayed Sat. Sept. 24, 2021 on our way back to US from a summer in Alaska. Dry camped in our 40’ Class A in a pull-through site. Not very level, but for one night it was fine.

Hardly anyone else in the campground. Quiet, restful. Glad it was still open!

We arrived on Sunday around noon the sign said Full but don’t let you fool. Go around and look at the papers on the post. People just leave them but site are available as the paper was for the night before. We saw several empty sites and found and large pull thru for our 36’ plus the Jeep. There are plenty of large sites for big rigs, plenty of firewood free to use. Bathroom close to us was clean. Park seems to be well maintained. Price $20 Canadian . 10 minutes from Whitehorse and not next to the Alaska Highway so super quiet. AT&T two bars sometimes three via Telus

We stayed here 8/1/2022.

The fee was $20 Canadian, but $18 if you buy your permit online or from a vendor.

If there is a sign saying full, take the chance and do a drive through. We did just that and found 5 empty sites. Sites are wooded, somewhat level, some pull though sites.Tall rigs should stay on the outer loop only, inner loops are narrow with a few low hanging branches. Lots of potholes at the time of our stay.

This park had a day use area with a playground. Nice little creek runs through the campground. Hiking trails were well maintained and are located at the back of the campground before crossing the creek the second time. Head towards the back of the campground to avoid the highway noise.

Verizon cell service varied from 1-3 bars.

We stayed here 3 nights in early July. One of the busier government campgrounds on our way to Alaska, but proximity to Whitehorse makes it so. Seems like turnover of campsites is much lower in general, only a handful open up each day. We arrived around 1130/12 and there were still a few to choose from, but earlier in the day is better as it seems to be full most afternoons.

The outer loop is better for bigger rigs, a little tight to navigate the inner loops (we’re in 32’ fifth wheel). We found a pull through that worked, parked, and then walked the rest of the way to see if there was anything better. Site 43 is hands down the best of the place and can accommodate any size rig.

Pros- about 15 min to downtown Whitehorse, good hiking right from CG, sites aren’t right on top of each other, creek and playground for kids

Cons- people drive fast (we weren’t next to a speed bump and ppl were speeding by us making dust and noise), traffic in the afternoons as ppl drive around for a spot, noise from the road and also airport (not too bad but it’s there)

Overall a good spot as a base camp.

Just outside Whitehorse. Nice campground. Clean. Firewood provided. Wouldn’t want to bring in a large rig though. Tight corners. We are in a truck camper and it was perfect.
