The Vancouver Maritime Museum is a family-oriented, fun place to learn and be inspired. Visitors of all ages enjoy the many permanent and changing exhibits, the famous RCMP schooner St Roch and Children's Maritime Discovery Centre. The Maritime Museum tells the stories of Canada's ties to the Pacific and the Arctic. As a centre for life-long learning, the Museum interprets our ongoing interaction with the sea through exhibitions and programs for people of all ages. Visitors will discover rich maritime history and traditions and there’s so much to see and do for landlubbers and old salts. Explore the many exhibits on pirates, shipwrecks, lighthouses, early fur trade, fireboats, Vancouver warships, deep-ocean exploration, coastal and transpacific steamship lines, and so much more. Step back in time onboard St Roch, Canada's celebrated RCMP Arctic schooner. Wander the ship's narrow corridors, where it is still 1944 and you are one of the crew on her second and most famous voyage through the treacherous Northwest Passage. St Roch was the first ship to traverse the Northwest Passage in both directions. Created to teach and designed for fun, visitors to Children's Maritime Discovery Centre experience a fun hands-on area dedicated to children and the young at heart. Heritage Harbour features working and classic vessels. The Maritime Store specializes in maritime books, models and RCMP souvenirs. Programming includes events, lectures, and activities for children. Children's birthday parties and facility rentals are also available. Location 1905 Ogden Avenue in Vanier Park at the north foot of Chestnut and Cypress Streets. Minutes from downtown at the south end of Burrard Street and short stroll to Granville Island. Heritage Harbour is a stop for False Creek/Granville Island Ferries.
