“one of the most unique natural places along the Lake Huron shoreline”
MacGregor Point is one of the most unique natural places along the Lake Huron shoreline. A complex ecosystem unfolds at this all-season park on a seven-kilometre stretch of coast, just south of Port Elgin. Park interpreters offer a full summer program of activities, including guided walks by the shore and through silver maple swamps, cattail marshes, ponds, fens and bogs that reveal unusual inhabitants. Learn about the carnivorous (meat-eating) plants that make this area their home. Rare Dwarf Lake Iris and the elusive Spotted Turtle appear in the spring. MacGregor Point is a well-known spot to look for migrating birds, including the Black-crowned Night Heron and the American Egret.

We did not reserve a site and were pleasantly surprised with the site we were given. Surrounded by trees, flat and ample space to pitch our two shelters and park our vehicle. The pit toilets could use some improvement as they were overly ‘ripe’. We opted for the 8 min walk to use the fully serviced bathrooms (which also had private showers).
Nice hiking and biking trails as well. We saw several snakes and various birds. Also had a very large play structure for those with kids and a small info center with local species - both alive and preserved.

This is one of our favourite provincial parks. It’s easy walking distance to the beach as well as the dog beach area. There are a number of trails some of which you can take your bicycle on. It is an extremely clean campground with adequate showers and sanitation areas. The Park store has the essentials along with souvenirs and scooped ice cream. The word for campfires is reasonably priced and dry.
