Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 22, 2022Well you can’t really go any further, at least without getting wet. 14 spots, all back in and on the Arctic Ocean. No hookups, but water and electrical is available sort of… water is supposedly potable and located behind the red sheds.
They have regular 110v electrical outlets all over the sheds but I’m not sure why… you can’t really run them to any spot but 14 and maybe 13. Maybe that’s the group tent spot? Maybe it’s to start your furnace in the winter so you don’t die
Trash cans are near and there are a few public portable toilets built in behind other sheds atop the hill and down the way
Some of the sites like 10 are flat and long, but most are uneven and some are super short as they’re eroding. 1 is the primo spot but 1-7 are basically for cars only or truck campers only. I did see an airstream jackknifed into spot 4 but they may have arrived when no one was there. Most of the campers arrive later in the day.
The community seems to be into it so I wouldn’t be surprised if updates are coming. The price is wildly high at $63 CAN which is about $49USD. They also use the road as a main drag? Idk, there is a lot of traffic after 8pm and just past midnight in “the land of the midnight sun” which would explain the odd hours in town… the breakfast and lunch place (grandmas kitchen—which was excellent) doesn’t open until 1pm.
But the traffic is annoying and turns what could be a 4 star campsite (for position and view only) back to what it really is, a 1 or 2 star joint at the end of the earth.
You check in and pay at the municipal building located a ways down the street. Almost everyone that pulled in was confused, no receipt posts so the most common visitor, the truck camper, has no way to show they have a spot.
At the community artist store they have their only competition—RV parking for $25. Dirt lot with no view.
Definitely go visit Tuktoyaktuk, the people of this hamlet are great.
