There are 2 sides to Rissers. Little Rissers and North Rissers. North Rissers is not on the ocean but has electric and water hookup. Little Rissers is on the side of the highway next to the ocean, however there is no electric or water. The beach is absolutely amazing. Lots of trails and bike paths. We go twice a year and have never had a complaint.

First the positives: this park has a gorgeous sandy beach and a long oceanside boardwalk which is perfect for going for a walk and enjoying the beach. It was worth going for that. My site at the back of the campground was pretty and private surrounded by beautiful forest. I was able to walk from my campsite to the beach area and back along pretty forest trails that were easy to decipher from the map they gave me when I arrived.

Now the negatives: I chose to camp in the non-electric section at the back of forest area which is a bit up the hill from the highway. Little did I know that I would have almost no cell signal at my campsite after having decent cell signal on the road. Grrrr.

In the morning, I walked down to the shower building to shower and there was a line up of 4 people ahead of me because only one shower stall was working. Of course when I finally got in the shower, the water was cold. Also the shower building is rustic (rather yucky) and could have been cleaner.

The water around the campground had some kind of chemical contamination so it was not potable. Happily there was potable water at the shower building and a spigot where you could hook up your hose that could potentially reach to where you could park your rig to fill up.

Of course there were water and electric sites available but they were all jammed together in an open area with no privacy. Price of $27 was for non-electric while electric sites are about $36.

Beach camping area was super crowded even on a weekday in September. I would have enjoyed the water but not the crowds, though if I had known there was no cell signal up the hill, I would have camped at the beach. I imagine in peak season it is completely full all the time.
