Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on July 02, 2023This small family run campground has non-service sites as well as a few serviced sites. They are tight, but we have seen only a couple of dozen here at most. It’s a great location close to Peggy’s Cover and the many areas of shore just south of Halifax.
Both our Verizon and AT&T internal plans had great connectivity with the Rodgers network. I was able to work remotely from the campground with no issues.

We made our reservation for FHU site in January for a week in July. When we arrived, we were give one of the 11 FHU sites- the worst site in the whole campground. WIthin 10ft to the bathrooms where the doors slammed constantly (most sites were with out sewer) and the hot air hand dryers ran loud and long. And we were right next to the dump station.
We expressed our disappointment in the site, made by reservation in January (we were second on their hand written list) and she did not seem to care. They do not reserve or hold sites- you get what you get when you show up. We moved to a w/e site. She had to tell the neighbor rig to move over as it hung into our site.
The price for FHU and w/e is the same!
Sites are somewhat close together.
Campground wifi was awful. Our verizon was spotty at best. Water pressure was below 20psi.
No place to walk as the road is super busy. The shore is rocky and not really good for swimming.
A couple of the staff/family were super nice, but our first day experience really tainted the week.
The views are very nice, but only a few sites have good views.

We only stayed for two nights, splitting our time between here and what was available in Halifax. This campground has good access to both the Peggy’s Cove area and Halifax. We stayed in a water & electric site, with great views of the bay. The site was large, on gravel and quite level. Many of the other sites were located on grass. The washrooms and laundry were serviceable. It was perfect for a day to fully explore Peggy’s Cove. We found the town very busy, as we where there over the weekend, and the area is a day trip from Halifax. There are a variety of sites here, from full hookup to non serviced. There were many tent and car campers registered. Our Verizon worked well enough. The WiFi in the park is spotty. When it worked, it worked well. Come with cash in hand as that is all they accept.

We had a friendly greeting and help backing in to site 27 which has a FANTASTIC view of the harbor. We enjoyed hearing the sounds of the ocean and looking right out our windows at it. Had good cell reception (AT & T) and enjoyed a day trip into Halifax.

It is pretty obvious after we checked out that this place is only in business to offer the bare minimum and charge whatever they can get away with. The showers are a quarter for 5 minutes in th le two working showers the other one was broken when we got there and was not fixed when we left 3 days later. The internet worked about one third of the time meaning every third time you wanted to use it it worked for a few minutes then would grind to a halt. The owner didn’t even know where the nearest laundromat was and seems to not care either. The views when the visibility was longer then 100 yards were breathtaking. One morning we were able to see a lighthouse for about ten minutes before the fog came down again. There is no sewer hook ups in the entire 65 slot campground which made at check out time, a fight to use the one dump station and no time to rinse out the black water tanks. There is a rule that you can’t rinse off any vehicle that got covered w filth from the roads. The entrance is not maintained and when you pull in or pull out it will throw a lot of stuff that otherwise stays in place around and you have to go grabbing for items hurled around by the eight inch drop off at the edge of the roadway. If I could give this a zero I would. At check in the woman will offer a donation jar for those who lost their homes near by in the recent wildfires. That would be pretty much to single positive of the entire stay.

We camped at King Neptune for 2 nights while in Peggy’s Cove area. Granted, it’s a place to sleep, but with a big rig such as our 37ft trailer, you would hope that a place that accommodates these will out some more thought to the convenience of their setup.
For starters a place that gets a ton of rain, you would think that they have leveled gravel sites for RVs. Everything is grass, which get soaked and really muddy, and if you need to leave your site you will struggle without 4x4.
We booked months in advance for a 3 way site (with dumping on site), but on arrival only got a 2 way. Reason being given - 3 way can’t be guaranteed, first come first served. That’s a lazy booking approach in my opinion. The dump station is located very impractically, not on the way out, but further in to the campgrounds. It requires some savvy maneuvering for a big rig, and the the road is blocked for all other vehicles who wants to move in and out while you dump.
The entrance to the campground from the road is also not well maintained, it’s a bumpy in and out from a fairly busy road.
Overall, the location is good (close to the Peggy’s cove lighthouse). The owners know that, and that means they will always have customers and don’t have to put extra effort in to making your camping experience, however short, more pleasurable.

In late July 2016 we stayed at King Neptune Campground. It was a lovely spot close to Peggy’s Cove (which was great, because we had the lighthouse almost to ourselves in the early summer morning), with a stunning view over the ocean. The staff members were always helpful and it was enough room to maneuver the RV. The kids really liked the CG, only the accommodations could need a greater attention. Nevertheless, King Neptune was a wonderful place to stay and we highly recommended this for families.
