This park is one of the top attractions in Ontario. In the heart of a World Biosphere Reserve, the ‘Bruce’ is place of global significance. Thousands of visitors come each year to experience the massive, rugged cliffs of the park, inhabited by thousand year old cedar trees, overhanging the crystal clear waters of Georgian Bay.
During the summer months, the park is filled to capacity. Even coming for a day trip, parking gets filled and closed. The campground is set up around Cypress Lake, with the Georgian Bay trail to the Grotto on site. This hike takes approx 30 mins (1.6km). The hard packed trail makes it an easy hike but in the summer it gets really busy as all National Parks do. Early morning or late in the day are the best times to see this beautiful place.
The campground has 232 drive in campsites in three campgrounds: Birches, Poplars and Tamarack. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit with a grill.
The campground can get loud during the day, lots of tourists new to camping, but the rangers are on top of it and it's all quiet after 10 pm. No issues.
Potable water taps, cold water sinks and basic washroom facilities are available. No showers on site but are available at private businesses just outside the park.
My recommendation is to book in the Poplars East Camp site #'s 21-29. There sites were larger and backed onto the water. Very nice!

We car camped here for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the ‘Tamarak’ section of Cyprus, which proved to be the most private of the three sections. The hiking trails and lakes are great.

However, the Grove did get exceptionally busy with day visitors. We managed to enjoy it between ‘time slots’ and then hiked to another far less busy section of lakefront.

The restrooms were clean, pit style with toilets that had water and a bit of a seal to help reduce odors. There are NO showers anywhere, so keep that in mind if you plan to tent it longer. Cyprus lake, albeit a tad slippery, appeared to be where most people bathed, sadly not using biodegradable soap.

This is a big park with big campgrounds and lots of trails and sites to explore. Way too much to take in an overnight stay, so I wish we had booked longer. Prior reviewers have done a great job at describing the park overall. We stayed in the Birches area which has about 98 sites, all dry camping with water spigots and vault toilets. My 25' class C was barely able to get through some of the more overgrown areas of the campground. Many sites are pull-through but with a canopy of tree covering, we had to back into our site from the other side. Don't count on solar being of much use. Most Canadians in this campground seem to know it was best suited for tents and pop-ups though there were a fair number of smaller trailers. I can't say of the other camping area were more suited to taller rigs. The Grotto is incredibly popular so expect throngs of day-trippers to be on the trails and at the rocky swimming area. While swimming is discouraged and cliff jumping prohibited, people were doing both with abandon. There was a lot of construction of new facilities going on. The dump station area was literally under construction (still usable around the heavy equipment). Don't overlook the visitor center which is north on the main road in Tobermory at Five Fathom National Marine Park, well worth exploring as well. We were able to get a few roaming bars on Bell Canada.
