Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 10, 2023We had pre booked because of school holidays so it was better to be safer than sorry. Rockwood Park is only about 5k from anywhere. The Reverse Falls are close and some great shopping at local grocery stores.
The camp has some 170 sites being a mix of full hook up to tent sites. The site we had was 30amp, water & sewer, but it pays to be close to the showers which is where the wireless internet is distributed for a good internet connection. Our site was very spacious but we needed to use an extension cord on our power supply and an extension hose on our black water.
Over all it was in a great location to do anything in the town. It is a county park.
The internet was weak and you had to go close to the shower block.

We were traveling between Prince Edward Island and Campobello Island (including two border crossings). Since we knew it would rain on the second day, we were looking for an overnight stop that was close to either Route 1 or Route 2 that could accommodate our RV hooked-up overnight (i.e., we would choose a long single-day drive over hooking-up in the rain on the second morning).
I initially discounted this campground due to comments about the site lengths on another RV park review website, but I did notice on google earth that an RV of our size was hooked-up in one of their sites. When I called the campground, they said they had a double-site that was available and would accommodate us (30 amp and water). We arrived to be told by a different person that the double site was reserved under another person’s name and we were given a less desirable location (which flooded due to the overnight rain). Ultimately the double site that we thought was assigned to us (and several others double sites in the same location) remained empty overnight—a little frustrating, but we did accomplish our goal to stay hooked-up overnight.

This campground is located in a nice park, on a hill above the city. There are many types of sites, we had a W/E, 30 amp, site. There were caravan sites just across from us that had sewer, as well as another loop we could see that had sewer, I don't know how you get those.
Our site was a gravel pull thru with no trees or grass around, our friends pulled in the opposite direction and we had a nice common area to share. There were no fire pits in the pull thru sites. There were laundry and showers facilities that we didn't use. There were two dump stations that had fairly easy access.
We came in from Maine and the google map directions from the highway to the park was a little tight for our big rig, you might want to review the directions before getting off the highway.
We had good cell phone coverage, AT&T North America coverage. You are close to town and the reverse falls, we chose the park for the proximity to the ferry to Digby.
There is a restaurant in the park that looked nice, and a lake with kayak rentals and there are a few walking trails.
If you want to be in the St John area, this is a nice park to stay at.

This is basically a gravel parking lot. But the location to St. John can't be beat. They have a few sites that are on grass, but you need a smaller rig.
The washrooms are very basic, but functional. Wifi never seems to work.
The only reason you would stay here is the proximity to the city. I usually stay here every year while I visit friends.

We biked from the campground to town, and it was an easy bike. That's the best thing about the campground, how close it is to the city.
We had no real complaints about the campground. The bathhouse was a little far away. Our site was grassy and fairly level.
The park is nice. There's a restaurant on the way in.

We are full timers and have camped at over 150 places in the last 9 months. This was our last night in Canada and the most disappointing stay we have had in our entire month in Canada across 3,000 miles. We wanted to go catch a taxi into downtown Saint John tonight but upon getting here it feels so unsafe we don’t even feel comfortable leaving our rig here without us being inside of it. We locked all our outside compartments because it feels unsafe, there are several signs posted on how to call security, and we’re warned at the front gate about thefts here. We have never across 23 states encountered this. If we weren’t getting service done at the Ford Dealership tomorrow and had anywhere else that we could legally camp, we would leave. I religiously use Campendium for reviews to help us on where to stay but have NEVER left a review until today. If I can help stop anyone from booking this campground then I will feel like I have done the right thing. If you value you rig and your things, then don’t camp here.

My wife and daughter camped here a couple weekends back although the campground is basically a gravel parking lot the sites are very easy to navigate into the people camping and working at the campground were excellent and helpful! We felt safe at all times and the grounds were quite and peaceful all evening and night, their is lots to do around rockwood park and your close to the city centre and not to mention the park is very dog friendly! We rated a 4 because they could have done more with the lots and definitely could have more for the kids on the grounds! Overall we will be back!
