Ishii Japanese Garden

Minnedosa has a sister city, Ishii, Japan, which was initiated to promote friendship and facilitate the mutual understanding of our respective cultures. Visits by delegations have occurred back and forth between the two communities. A Japanese Garden has been developed in Minnedosa located behind the Minnedosa Regional Library. It was designed by a group of University of Manitoba students, who also put some labour into the project, along with some local volunteers. This garden is a tranquil, relaxing getaway capturing the essence of a traditional Japanese garden. The garden is now being maintained by the Minnedosa Horticultural Society.
