Point Clark Beach

Deep in southern Bruce County, Point Clark, Ontario is a residential and cottage community tucked into the Lake Huron shoreline.  Founded in the mid-19th century, this coastal hamlet took its name from settlers from Clark Township in Durham County, Ontario, who called their newfound home Point Clark.  Point Clark is the site of an imperial lighthouse built to warn sailors of offshore reefs. One of three limestone towers erected on Bruce County’s lengthy coastline (the other are on Chantry and Cove Islands), its lantern was first lit on April 1, 1859.  This lighthouse, with its 114 narrow steps and light keeper museum, is a National Historic Site, designated by Parks Canada in 1967.
