I spoke with a very friendly woman at the Visitors Center who said that overnight stays were allowed but they would prefer you to use one of the local campgrounds. As this was a travel day and we would only be there for one night, she said that it was fine. It was a bit confusing when we arrived, you need to turn left and go behind the building to access the parking lot where there are a number of RV pull thru spots. There was only ourself and a travel trailer there the night we stayed. It was a bit noisy from the road and there were bright streetlights in the parking lot but it was great for the night.
We were looking for a quick place to stay to break up a long drive. We're self-contained in our 8 meter/25 foot RV and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a Sunday night in mid-September. The VC closes at 3 on Sunday and we were not able to check in. We asked in the morning and were told it was ok to park overnight. There was one other RV overnighting with us. The parking lot is paved and level. Although close to the road, there's not much traffic at night. There's good ATT and Verizon cell coverage. The VC has very helpful staff and includes a nice museum of the greater area.
We arrived after closing after a long driving day. Easy access, level lot and beautiful view of the River. It’s located at the end of a biking trail so we watched bikers come down the trail till dusk. In the morning, we visited the visitor centre.
I did not stay overnight but confirmed at the front desk that you are allowed to park your RV overnight in their lot. They are open 9am to 6pm everyday and ask that you come in and give your license plate number to stay overnight if you arrive while they are open.
This beautiful visitor centre has info, a small gift shop and a small museum about the Williams Lake Stampede with admission by donation. They had SMOKIN FAST WIFI and comfortable seats with receptacles nearby to plug in. Garbage and recycle bins outside. Trails nearby.
Only downside is that it is right beside the highway so there will be some traffic noise however the parking lot is raised above the highway and large enough that you are set back a bit from the road.
Very friendly staff that love and welcome RVers! Thank you Williams Lake!
