Public gravel parking lot right in downtown Summerland! Huge area with space for 10 or more RVs. Adjacent to a busier road so there is some road noise but it tapers off significantly overnight. Sign says 3 night stay limit. No indication if you are allowed to sleep inside the rig though I think this is implied. Still probably best to treat this as a parking area and not a campground, ie keep noise to a minimum and definitely no campfires! No garbage cans here - but there is a small public trash bin between the art gallery and museum.
I parked for 4 nights on the May long weekend just around the corner in the paved lot just north of the museum/art gallery. No signage at that lot saying you may or may not park there but it was quieter because it was farther from the road. I even unhitched my camper and left to drive to visit local wineries. No one bothered me at all - yay!
Adjacent downtown area has great shops including clothes, bakery, hardware store, restaurants and Nester's Market for groceries. Small but good museum and art gallery are nearby, both with admission by donation. Library across the street with free wifi, aquatic centre is 5 minute walk away with public swimming and hottub/sauna for $5. Lots of wineries in the area: Thornhaven and Back Door are both affordable with good wines. Dirty Laundry has a party atmosphere – try their Port wine! Hike up the mountain at Giant’s Head Park and hike or cycle the TransCanada trail nearby. Ride the steam train on weekends in the warm weather, $25 for adults. Farmer’s market on Sunday mornings downtown Summerland starts in June.
Thank you Summerland for the welcome free place to park! Great community with lots to offer – get out and explore!
Yes, this is a parking lot that allows free RV parking for 3 nights, which is REALLY NICE of the town. Not my cup of tea so I moved on, however, there are those who it'll suit perfectly. The location is looks like it would be fairly quiet at night, well lit, and safe.
Clean area. 1 block walking distant to Shell gas station.Filled my 40 oz coffee thermos for $1.55 CA...
It’s great of the town to offer this space and summerland is a great town err wouldn’t have visited otherwise. A few abandoned cars and a trailer take up much of the lot though. It’s also on a very noisy road.
We spent one night but in the morning were told we could not overnight camp. The sign actually says that as well.
Site is closed. Overnight stays are no longer permitted.
