The name is misleading – the falls are huge and stunning and easily accessible via a network of trails that lead off of the Upper Campground loop. Sites 20 – 30 are closest to the trailhead.
This provincial park is beautiful and has level gravel campsites with decent separation but not complete privacy. Pit toilets, water spigots, garbage/recycling located throughout the park. No electric, no dump station, no showers.
Good cell signal on Bell Canada and AT&T even without a booster.
Some of the sites are double sites. We came in the off season (early Oct) and the campground was nearly empty. We chose a double site which would provide more sunshine for solar than a single site and no one would choose to camp in the adjacent site with so many other sites available.
Cheaper than nearby Rathtrevor on the ocean in Parkside ($30 per night), this place was a winner at $23.

We only stayed one night on our way out to the west coast. The campground offers the basic amenities - good sized semi-private sites, fire rings, picnic tables, flush toilets, vault toilets, water spigots, trash cans, etc. The women's restroom with the flush toilets was small and cramped and in need of some maintenance. The vault toilets were in fair condition.
The real draw here is the falls which are well worth a visit. You can do a nice loop trail that crosses two bridges and takes you along either side of the river with good views of the falls.
Easy access to the campground from the highway and a short drive to Port Alberni if you need anything.
The price above is in CDN dollars and does not include the $6 CDN reservation fee we paid, nor taxes. Our total for one night was $29.30 CDN or $23 US for the one night.

This is the second time we stayed at this park. The first time we just drove in and picked a campsite. This last time we had a reservation.
Our first time we stayed in L57 and the next time was L 78. Do not stay in 78. We tried numerous times to get level and it never worked out. We talked to the camp host but they wouldn’t let us switch sites until someone came around in the evening. The campground did get filled last night.
I would suggest staying in the upper campground it has nicer sites and some of them you can hear the river flowing.
I never saw any flush toilets. The pit toilets were OK.
The walk along the Falls is spectacular. You can do a number of different routes. There were a number of people swimming in the river above the falls and below the falls. Our dogs loved getting in the river, the water was refreshing but not ice cold.

Beautiful walking loop to the falls. Easy to navigate, has a few stairs.
