Kaslo Municipal Campground

The park was easy to find. It is located beside Kootenay Lake. Do not trust your GPS. Ours tried to take us into a dead end road. There is pavement all the way. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are apparently non existent. None posted anywhere. Having said that we did not encounter any issues with other campers other than dogs roam freely “throughout the town” as well as the park.

The interior roads are graveled and in good condition. Our site, 05, was a back in that was easily long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp, water and sewer only) were to the rear. Distancing is not bad for an urban park. Each site has a table and a fire pit. Our site was flat and even. Overall the park was neat and tidy. We expected to find dog poop everywhere due to the free roaming but were pleasantly surprised to find none!

The park included wifi worked very well most of the time. There were occasion where it slowed considerably. There were NO OTA or cable TV. Satellite might be difficult in a few spots. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean.

The whole town is within an easy walking distance. You can find food, shopping and convenience stores, boat, canoe, kayak rentals, attractions all without using an auto. We found this park to be a great base for visiting local attractions We paid $50.00 per night and we feel we received fair value. We will be back if in the area again. Be sure to visit Ainsworth Hot Springs, hike the 2 Km loop River Trail and look for some whimsical statues. If you have a high clearance vehicle, drive to the Buchanan Lookout Tower for some incredible views.
