Charlie Lake RV & Leisure

This was probably a lovely RV park in its day, but it could use some work. The shower facilities are coin operated - but we couldn’t seem to get them to work (the manager offered to show us how they worked but we were leaving - so they refunded our shower money). Otherwise the bathroom facilities were clean and everything worked well. There are a variety of sites and most seemed pretty level. Not all sites have 30amp service. There are a number of long-term “residents” and the ones we talked to were very pleasant - as were the managers. Other than the showers issue our only real “complaint” would be the traffic noise - there is only a frontage road between the RV park and a busy highway. And there were some dirt bike racing on the other side of the highway until about 8:00pm (a common occurrence according to one of the residents). Things did quite down a bit overnight - but it could be an issue with light sleepers. All in all it is an ok park. I sleep well so I’d consider staying again.

Just off the Alaska Highway this medium sized campground seems to mostly cater to those working at the dam or oil fields. The good news is that it is open year round and some of the spots have full service all year. Owners take great care making it comfortable and relaxing with a few quirks. Don’t be surprised if your hose connection is inside a wooden wishing well. Your 30A electric may come out of a windmill. There are some neat local rocks scattered around as well as moose antlers. There are 2 WIFI sources but the carrier isn’t the greatest. As the park fills I’m sure reliability drops. In early spring we’re streaming Netflix and using Roku with hardly a buffer. Mid summer it would do for checking Mail. Office is definitely NOT Handicap accessible. Restrooms, showers and laundry all in perfect working order and impeccably clean. When we stayed early spring our rate was $30ca.👍👍👍👍
