Reviews
We arrived at Walmart and saw how dirty and unsafe it looked. We called grey eagle casino and they said to come on over. There was a huge lot to the right of the casino with 3 other RV's. We were told to speak to the casino security to fill out paperwork about our license plate and phone number. Very easy process. There was some noise from the casino until 11:30 pm, but after that it was very quiet. We had great att service and good solar power. Great for a stopover in Calgary. Would definitely recommend!
You are allowed to park in the event parking area. If there is an event there may not be space so call and ask. There is no cost except what you spend at the casino. We positioned the RV so we had a view of the Rockies in the distance. You are allowed to unhook from your rig and drive around Calgary. We even did a day trip to Banff.
Good AT&T if you need to work as you travel. Speeds for me were 7mbps down and 2mbps up.
We were looking for a place to stay that would be convenient to visiting sites in downtown Calgary. We're self-contained and don't require facilities. We stayed on a weekend in July in our 8 meter (25 foot) MH.
We called the casino phone number and security told us we were welcome to stay in the event parking lot (across the street from casino) and asked us to stop by and sign in. They're located right inside the main entrance and signing in was quick and easy. Security said we could stay 3 days. There was no charge. The grass lot is quite large and mostly level. (It becomes a bit rutty in the area furthest from the road.) Although there were a dozen other RVs for the nights we were there, we were able to spread out for some privacy. All 3 nights were quiet. There are no hookups. ATT and Verizon coverage was good while roaming on Rogers service.
The casino offers gambling and several restaurants and bars. It's located 10 km (6 miles) from downtown Calgary. It's also convenient to an entrance for the bike trail network along the Elbow River. (Map available on-line.) The Studio Bell/National Music Center/Canadian Music Hall of Fame downtown is a treat for anyone interested in music.
We were excited to find this free overnight spot in Calgary. We stayed two nights and would definitely stay again. We parked in the grassy overflow lot as other reviewers suggested. It was fairly level and quiet. There was a concert starting when we arrived and security helped direct us to the very far end of the grass lot. There were a chance we’d get kicked out if they needed the parking but luckily that didn’t happen. Several other campers were in the lot, as well. Great location for accessing Calgary attractions.
the perfect stay in Calgary, AB. Very quiet, Rocky Mountains visible, lots of space on the grassy overflow parking beside the Casino. Just register with security, that‘s all.
Very good cell reception (Rogers Canada, LTE).
Hey Camper, please take your garbage with you when you leave! We all want to be allowed back in the future.
Nice free camping, 10 km to downtown. You have to register with the security to use it and the are more than happy to have you there.
Leave the place clean when you leave.
Best night on our trip to Alaska yet. Was easy to find. Registered with security at the front entrance to casino. We parked where of door and living room windows faced the trees. Very quiet. (Little construction near extrance to casino but signs will guide you in if your gps is getting confused.)
It was a very quiet grass field across from casino. Felt safe and the security seemed adequate.
Road construction a few blocks away was a challenge but getting into parking lot was easy. Would not need to unhook tow car. Quiet, safe. Great spot to explore city.
We stayed 3 nights in early July for the Calgary stampede event that was going on. There were probably 10 other RVs camped out with us during the week. Only downside was there were lots of mosquitos but can’t complain too much when it’s free. The casino and workers were nice enough and didn’t bother us. We did go in and register our vehicle with security, easy process.
