Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on September 03, 2019This is an absolutely beautiful campground with 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains. Sites are large and level. There are a few pull-thru sites but mostly back in. Most sites are in an open grassy area so privacy is limited but sites are well spaced. Sites backing onto the road have some traffic noise (minimal). Firewood is included. Vault toilets only. No hook-ups but excellent for solar. No cell coverage. This is the best campground on the parkway if you are towing or have a large rig.

Wow what a place! This is your spot if you have a big rig or larger trailer. Our 32’ fifth wheel fit without any issue- sites are mostly level, gravel, and angled correctly for backing in. We were along the river/creek in site 31, and the views out our back and dining widow couldn’t be beat. I would say the group of sites where we were was probably the best for quality and views. Some of the sites in the lower numbers were in the trees, no views.
Pit toilets were very clean- cleaned every day. There is no water, no cell service, and we didn’t have any road noise. Seemed like campers rolled in starting around 5pm and most left by 9am. Reservable now, during the week we were there there seemed to be a few avail as FCFS every night except for weekends.
We were hoping to be able to dump at Waterfowl on our way to Jasper but no such luck- campground and dump were still closed for the season…There is no cell service at all, we had some down by Lake Louise and also up by the Icefield Center/Columbia Icefield.

Wow, what a find. Price posted was Canadian. Don’t forget you still need a Canadian National Park Pass.
Silverhorn Creek Campground is between the Icefield Centre and Lake Louise.
This campground looks new. Sites are very well laid out and made of crushed gravel. They even took the time to edge the sites for the sitting area. Beautiful new thick picnic tables and a fire ring. Note, if you are going to have a wood fire it’s extra but they include the wood.
There are brand new looking vault toilets. No water or dump but both are available at the Waterfowl campground. Unfortunately no cell service.
So why five stars? Besides being a beautiful campground, it’s all about the views and access to activities.
The views were stunning. 360 degrees and something spectacular to see in every direction. A flowing stream/river that runs along the campground and a small shallow lake in the middle. Even a couple of red chairs near the lake to enjoy.
We were just working our way back from Alaska and both agreed that this was the best campground of the trip (should have stayed longer).
If you don’t need hook-ups and have plenty of fresh water and empty gray/black tanks, then this is a GREAT campground to stay at to explore the Icefields Parkway.

Newly opened in 2019, this is by far the best dry-camping park on the Icefield Parkway. A former gravel pit, Canada Parks cut out a beauty. If you like 360 degree mountain views, asphalt roads, level gravel sites, clean pit toilets, fire rings, walking paths, and large site pads...Silverhorn Creek Campground is your choice. There is also a creek running along the south side of the campground and it has three small ponds. They have large pull-through sites (two which are 85'+ long) and numerous back-ins. Very few parks along the parkway will accommodate big rigs but you will have no problems at Silverhorn. This is a FCFS park so arrive early as it also serves as an overflow to Waterfowl Campground, three miles north of Sliverhorn. Also, it is an unserviced park so come with a full fresh water tank and empty black tank, your closest dump/water will be at Waterfowl Campground.
Nightly rate is $15.70 CDN or $11.80USD.
We camped here in our 40' Class A pulling a full-size truck.

Silverhorn is an absolutely fabulous dry campground on the Icefields Parkway.
This is my wife's favorite park out of any she has stayed at (maybe 40).
The fee includes a fire permit, and when you arrive, there is free firewood cut from the immediate area.
The sites are quite large, and our 40' Newmar would have no trouble fitting into 80%.
We had a pull-through site #8. Although in the center of camp there was little traffic going by and the views were sublime. There was no road noise at all at our site.
We never used the Pit toilets, but they looked to be a great condition.
The ponds can make for some great photos with the mountains reflected in them. Our Newfie loved the cool water of the Creek.
No cell phone coverage of any kind, but Starlink worked great.
