“Not everyone needs sunblock on the beaches of Cape Le Grand National Park.”
With two Kangaroos to every human in Australia, there are lots of places to spot them on a roadie but spotting them sunbathing on the beach is a once in a lifer. It does happen on the East Coast but if you're over on the west, then Lucky Bay is the beach to be at. It's part of Cape Le Grande National Park, so, at certain times, the roos like to top up their vitamin D too. Many hop around the campgrounds at the top of Lucky Bay but the sunbathing kangaroos are more likely to be at the end of the beach early or late in the day when it’s not so hot - because who wants to bake in the sun wearing a thick fur coat? While they may look placid they are wild animals with some mighty kickboxing skills. Leave them in peace and never feed them. If you don’t see any kangaroos sprawled on the sand at Lucky Bay, you’re still on one of the most beautiful beaches in Western Australia with snow-white sand and crazy vivid blue water. And this is just one of the many natural highs on offer at Cape Le Grand National Park, only 45 minutes Esperance. Famous for its stunning scenery there's swimming, bushwalking, fishing, camping, and marvelling at the locals. If you’re there between July and October look out for migrating whales swimming by too.
