Located in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, Conto Field Camp has access to the coast via a sandy track suitable for 2WD vehicles. The beach and rocky shores, however, can only be accessed by foot. Fishing is not permitted. Strong coastal winds and heavy surf can be a danger at this beach, and the limestone of the coast is prone to collapse. Observe all warnings in the park and ensure you check tide and and weather warnings before travel. Other nearby activities include Lake Cave and Cave Works, just 1.5 kilometres from the Campground. The Cape to Cape Walking Trail also passes by, providing access to the tall karri tress of Boranup Forest to the south. Other beaches within the Park provide safe zones for swimming, snorkelling and diving, as well as fishing. Rock climbing is also possible. Conto Field Camp itself has 90 camp sites nestled amongst the coastal peppermint woodland. Generators are not permitted. Bookings cannot be made. Campfires are usually permitted between 1 April and 30 November (bring your own firewood) but be sure to check fire restrictions prior to travel. Park entry fees apply. For more information, please visit the Department of Parks and Wildlife's Parkstay website.
