Step off the well trodden tourist trail and explore beautiful Lennard Gorge. If you can get there shortly after the wet season, you will be awestruck by the spectacular cascading waterfall, as it tumbles over the red rocks and plunges into the narrow gorge below. Bounded by remarkably high cliffs, you can take a beautiful walk along the ridge and down to the end of the gorge. Either do a loop walk, returning along the other side of the gorge, or swim back for a truly memorable experience. Lennard Gorge is one of the lesser visited of the Kimberley gorges. It is tougher to access than the other gorges in the area, but it is well worth making the effort. The eight kilometre access road is strictly four wheel drive only, and will take up to half an hour to negotiate, longer if the roads are wet. The walk in from the car park can be rather challenging so allow plenty of time. The gorge is a three hour drive from Derby along the Gibb River Road. It can be hazardous and extreme care should be taken when driving in, and when exploring and climbing the gorge.
