“Whoever Emma was, her namesake gorge is totally gorge-ous.”
After a heart-thumping hike through Emma Gorge, in El Questro Wilderness Park, there’s a deep and deeply satisfying swimming hole to plunge into. Surrounded by orange and green cliffs you can cool off in this oasis looking up at a 65-metre droplet waterfall, which surely must be some kind of ancient water therapy. Emma Gorge waterfall is also home to a secret trickle of a small thermal spring. If you’re lucky enough to find this trickle amongst the rocks you can warm up one part of your body and let the other part chill out in the bracing swimming hole. But don't post it on Instagram or it won't be a secret anymore. Most people take an hour to get there, give or take a few stops for breathers.
