Franklin Eco Cruise offers a calm, relaxing cruise on the beautiful Huon River in Southern Tasmania. Departing from the historic town of Franklin, alongside Petty Sessions Gourmet Cafe just a 35-minute drive from Hobart. You will pass by this charming village while learning the history of the town and area. Other highlights include circumnavigating North Egg Island viewing the man-made canal and exploring the upper reaches of this picturesque river as far as Ranelagh, north of Huonville. There are frequent sightings of abundant birdlife along the way, including the graceful Black Swan and majestic Sea Eagle. There is also the chance of spotting the rare Australasian Bittern which nests on the Egg Islands. The vessel, MV Lady Jane II, was launched in February 2013 and is warm and comfortable, positioning you perfectly for viewing the natural beauty and wildlife. The two hour cruise includes morning tea. Cruise departs on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday year round with a minimum number of six passengers required. Please call 24 hours prior to check availability. Other cruise times are available by arrangement (minimum number of ten passengers). Private charter available at a rate of $200 per hour (minimum two hours), conditions apply.
