The walk from the Sydney Opera House to the Botanic Gardens (or vice versa) provides a perfect introduction to the city, with gorgeous views of the harbour and city scape. You can hear the waves lapping and feel the sea breeze as you explore the gardens and fountains. Keep going and you get to the Art Gallery of NSW. A short walk for the able bodied, 15-30 minutes depending on how far you go. If it's hot pack your bathers and stop at the Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool (aka the ABC Pool) for a dip and breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour.
