“Drink your coffee with a happy conscience at this Queensland café!”
Café Chloe was launched in the small town of Tully by Ingan Tours, an Aboriginal-owned tour operator who want to encourage tourists to Australia to get off the beaten path and learn the authentic stories of Australia's indigenous history and culture. With the help of a $20,000 catalyst grant from non-profit organisation Planeterra, the family-run business was able to secure a grant from the Indigenous Land Council and convert the old Tully railway station into the cafe and learning centre it is today.
The purpose of Café Chloe is to celebrate culture and provide meaningful jobs to Aboriginal and under-employed community members in Tully. So far, they have created 6 new jobs for local indigenous youth, and continue to strive to make a difference both among their community and those who come to visit the region.
